Issues Needing Further Discussion: 1- HOW TO INCREASE MEMBERSHIP PARTICPATION IN THIS PROCESS
2- CONFERENCE ISSUES RE: COMPETITION BETWEEN CEU GRANTING ACTIVITIES VS. BUSINESS MEETINGS, ETC.
3-DUES/FEE STRUCTURE
4-Should a specialty certificate, such as the
SC: L, have as a pre-requisite of a full generalist certification before an interpreter can take the performance exam?
5-In the past, a CSC or a CI & CT were pre-requisites for the SC:L.
At present, according to the RID website, the pre-requisite is no longer a certification, but a membership category. WE MUST ASK AT LEAST TWO HARD QUESTIONS: 1) What does RID “generalist certification” represent?
AND 2) What is the difference between an RID Certified Member and a Certified Member of RID? Do RID members know the difference? More importantly, will anyone outside our organization know the difference?
