About Metro

The New York City Metro Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. was established in 1979.  It is an affiliate chapter of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. The purpose of the organization is to initiate, sponsor, promote and execute practices that will further the profession of interpretation of American Sign Language/English and transliteration of English.

The NYC Metro RID membership has established the following objectives as found in our by-Laws:

To support the activities of organizations of and for persons who are Deaf and hard of hearing and organizations in related fields

To raise funds to support the purpose and activities of the organization

To publish and distribute annually a directory of members
