The
committee will award two honors at the first meeting of the year,
in January. These are the Service Award, given to a member in good
standing who has served Metro and the interpreting community exceptionally
well in the past year, and the Consumer Award, given to a consumer
of interpreting services that should be recognized for their support
of accessibility to the Deaf community and their use of interpreters.
Among
the committee, discuss possible winners of both awards. You may
want to peruse the membership directory for ideas, solicit suggestions
from members and consult the Board.
Check
the list of past winners to make sure you don't choose a member
or organization that has recently been honored.
Once
a list of possible honorees has been compiled, present the list
to the Board no later than the December board meeting. The final
choices are made by the Board with Awards Committee input.
Once
recipients are chosen, order plaques with the following wording,
with the appropriate years and names, with all text centered on
the plaque:
