General Meeting
Interpreter Committee

Hires 1 Certified interpreter and brings in an Associate
member to team interpret for the General Membership meeting - providing mentorship opportunity

General Meeting Interpreter Checklist

1. One certified and one associate interpreter are hired for every Metro RID general meeting. This model is designed to give a less experienced interpreter the opportunity to mentor for an evening with a more seasoned interpreter. The chair may hire two certified interpreters or two associate interpreters only if he/she has made every effort to secure one of each board liaison must be notified before doing so.

2. The chair should Call/e-mail certified and associate interpreters about 1 month prior to the meeting. The interpreters are notified it is primarily a voicing job and that an FM system (closed microphone) may be used.

3. Once interpreters are procured, the chair explains the roles of the interpreters. The certified interpreter is the Mentor, and the associate interpreter the mentee. The mentor provides the mentee with constructive feedback concerning the interpreting process once the assignment is completed.

4. Certified interpreters are to bring an invoice to the meeting for $50.00/hour. Associate interpreters may bring an invoice for a $25.00 stipend.

5. At the end of the year this process should be reviewed and if updates are needed they should be made and changed on the disk.
