Metro RID NEWSLETTER CHAIR (EDITOR) RESPONSIBILITES:
Template-2003
A - There are
6 newsletters per year, each between 8-20 pages, due in ALL paid-up
members' mailboxes 10-14 days before scheduled General meetings.
B - Each issue MUST
include:
1) TITLE (currently "NYC Metro RID Newsletter")
2) DATE OF PUBLICATION (1st issue of year is Jan/Feb 20XX, 2nd issue
is Mar/Apr 20XX, etc.)
3) GENERAL AND BOARD MEETING SCHEDULE (including dates, times, locations,
and whether or not Professional Development is offered)
4) PRESIDENT'S CORNER COLUMN
5) DISCLAIMER (Copy verbatim from any past issue)
6) DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS (to be decided by Editor; dependent on
length of time needed for printing, etc. so that newsletters arrive
10-14 days before scheduled General meetings)
7) PROXY FORM & INSTRUCTIONS (Use past issues as guide)
8) GENERAL AND BOARD MEETING MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETINGS (May have
to remind Secretary to submit)
9) CURRENT BOARD MEMBER CONTACT INFORMATION & POSITIONS
10) METRO AND NATIONAL WEBSITE ADDRESSES
11) METROBITS CONTACT INFO (#'s 10 & 11 effective Jan. '04)
12) ALL DONATIONS RECEIVED SINCE LAST ISSUE (Does NOT include Membership
fees. Treasurer will supply.)
13) ADDRESS/CONTACT INFO CHANGES (Submitted by members themselves
or Membership chair)
C - Each newsletter
MAY include:
1) COMMITTEE REPORT COLUMN (List each Metro committee and Chair. If
no submission, write "NR" or "No Report" next
to their names. May have to remind Chairs via personal emails)
2) EDITOR'S COLUMN
3) MEMBER TRIUMPHS/TRAGEDIES (Submitted by members or solicited by
Editor. If unsure individual will want info printed, check first.)
4) MEMBER ARTICLES (As submitted by members; MAY be edited for spelling/grammar/space)
5) JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS (ONLY if related to Interpreting. May be edited
for space.)
D - Remind Membership
Chair to send address labels ONE WEEK before you need them.
E - Copy, Address,
Stamp completed newsletter. (May have to tape bottom; check with post
office for rules. Newsletters 12 pages or less should only require
First Class stamp depending on paper weight. Weigh before stamping
to make sure.)
F - Mail newsletters
to ALL paid up members AND Region I President, Region 1 Affiliate
Chapter Presidents and RID National Office (addresses available from
Metro Prez)
G - TIP: When editing,

To raise funds to support the purpose and activities of the organization
To publish and distribute annually a directory of members
