Professional Development
Checklist
Every year, NYC Metro RID sets
up a Professional Development Committee (PDC). Four to five members
volunteer for the committee, including a chair.
Beginning
in late January, an initial committee meeting is set up. At
this meeting, ideas for workshops garnered by the committee members
and recommendations for workshops put forth by the membership are
discussed. Planning for the year begins at this meeting based on a
set budget approved by the membership. A committee roster sheet of
contact information is distributed to the group. Contact information
is also shared and disseminated to all members of the committee.
The committee
is charged with two professional development workshops for 90 minutes
to be presented BEFORE a Metro meeting in addition to an all day workshop
offered at the July meeting. The PDC can offer more workshops
if the budget and time allows.
Member of the PDC will divide
up the responsibilities for hosting the workshop based on availability,
individual strengths and weaknesses, and specific skills involved.
The chair will be responsible for the coordination, and for paperwork.
