The Benefits of Membership

* A subscription to the NYC Metro RID Newsletter which describes events and discusses ideas of interest to the local interpreting community, as well as info from previous Metro meetings.

* An individual listing in the annual NYC Metro RID Membership Directory.

* A complimentary copy of the NYC Metro RID Membership Directory and updates.

* Eligibility for convention scholarships.

* Information about workshops, classes, and job openings.

* E-mail listings on MetroRIDbits of upcoming events both interpreting and deaf-related.

* An opportunity to shape the profession.

* Participation on Metro committees.

Metro is an official testing site for the RID written and performance tests.

Metro RID Membership categories:

Certified Member:

    • An interpreter of American Sign Language and English or transliteration of English currently holding valid certification from RID
    • Voting privileges

Associate Member:

    • An individual who is actively engaged in the interpretation of American Sign Language and English and/or transliteration of English, but who does not hold valid certification from RID
    • Voting privileges

Student Member:

    • A non-certified individual currently enrolled in a course of study in interpretation of American Sign Language and English and/or the transliteration of English

Supporting Member:

    • An individual interested in supporting the goals, purposed and activities of NYC Metro RID

Member Organization:

Any organization, institution, agency or business with an interest in supporting the goals, purposes and activities of NYC Metro RID
