Much of interpreter training and practice goes into the cognitive aspect of processing but little focus is given to the actual work of hearing. This workshop explores principles of sound mechanics, understanding how factors that affect hearing affect processing, techniques to identify and minimize ‘false hearings’, and hands-up opportunity to practice interpreting in Sign Supported Speech for Deaf clients who are multi-modal.
