Many interpreters have had some exposure to Usher Syndrome, however, they lack the extensive understanding of the breadth of the etiology and how it impacts real-life experiences of individuals within the community. More so, interpreters have not been afforded the hands-on training on appropriate approaches and techniques that will help facilitate their interpreting interactions. This session will provide an in-depth description of the different strands of Usher Syndrome, tips for a more seamless interpreting experience and perspective from within the community. This session will be joined by guest Chris Woodfill, who has Usher Syndrome.
